Porn star lawyer Michael Avanetti has a shady past that brings up more questions than answers

Before he became porn star Stormy Daniels’ lawyer, few people outside of certain circles had ever heard of attorney Michael Avenatti.

But these days he’s just about everywhere, making his rounds on American Pravda media networks dishing this allegation or that allegation about President Donald J. Trump and his associates including Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen.

In recent weeks Avenatti somehow came in possession of Cohen’s personal financial and banking records, teasing the charge that the Trump attorney received a half-million dollars from some nefarious Russian source, $130,000 of which was then used to pay hush money to his client.

The kind of records Avenatti obtained are not those the average person can get; someone leaked them to him, most likely, and now the Treasury Department is looking into the matter.

But the outsized attention Avenatti has drawn has led real news organizations to probe his background, since the Pravda media seems disinclined to do so. And what we’re finding is that Avenatti has a questionable background of his own.

Hypocritical distraction

As The Daily Caller reported, his “past is littered with lawsuits, jilted business partners and bankruptcy filings,” and those who have worked with him in the past say he’s “ruthless, greedy and unbothered by ethical issues.”

Sounds like just the lawyer the Deep State would want running interference for them as yet another distraction the president must deal with.

Let’s look at what’s been discovered thus far about a lawyer who is claiming to represent the moral high ground in this case:

— Last week Dillanos Coffee CEO David Morris said that Avenatti never paid him for more than $160,000 worth of coffee the franchise supplied to Avenatti’s company. “So @StormyDaniels hot shot lawyer Michael owes my small company @Dillanos $169,179 for coffee. He talks a big talk about integrity. We trusted him,” Morris tweeted.

In a follow-up tweet, he added: “Michael Avenatti owned Tully’s coffee. They were a large chain of coffee shops. We are a wholesale roaster. We supplied his coffee. The $160,000 represented only a few weeks worth of beans. We cut him off when he wouldn’t pay, he had to close.”

The DC interviewed Avenatti about the claim. He said: “I don’t owe Dillano’s coffee anything. I personally don’t owe them anything. So that’s nonsense.”

However, three hours later Morris announced via Twitter that he and Avenatti had come to “an arrangement” — ostensibly about monies owed.

“Twitter did not delete my tweet, I did. My company @Dillanos Coffee Roasters worked out an arrangement with @MichaelAvenatti,” Morris tweeted.

Avenatti first bought Tully’s in 2013 after going into business with actor Patrick Dempsey. Both of them bought the coffee chain through a parent firm, Global Baristas, LLC, on June 30, 2013.

Just 10 weeks later, Dempsey sued Avenatti.

“My decision to become a member and manager of Global Baristas was based, in part, on Michael Avenatti’s representation that he would provide both the capital to fund the entire Tully’s acquisition and sufficient working capital to allow Global Baristas to operate the Tully’s Coffee stores once the acquisition was completed,” Dempsey said in an August 20, 2013, affidavit.

“Michael Avenatti never notified me that he intended to have or caused Global Baristas to borrow $2,000,000 for working capital, nor did he notify me that he planned to have or caused the company to pledge substantially all, if not all, of its assets to secure any loan,” Dempsey charged.

Again, Avenatti denied the accusations but agreed to a settlement within three days.

— As The National Sentinel reports, there are questions about who’s paying Avenatti to represent Daniels. The pair claim that a crowdfunding account is taking care of his legal fees after Daniels herself has admitted she’s not picking up the tab.

But Avenatti got a sweet windfall payment of $8 million earlier this year — about the same time he took Daniels on as a client.

Seasoned politicos are asking where Avenatti’s funding is coming from, as well as what his actual role is — lawyer, opposition researcher, journalist, campaign operative?

There are more questions than answers at this point but one thing seems clear: There’s much more to Avenatti’s background than just that of a humble lawyer who wants to see justice done.
